So here's what's happened with my AA booking.
I send off the payment, and get a response back: 'Thanks for the money. No problem - but we just need your full name and DOB to finalize the booking. Apparently I didn't give them this. Wherever it was asked for.
Me: 'No worries. Here are the details you require.'
Them - SILENCE
Me, about a week later - "Uh - hello? Is this in order now? As I need to book a hotel - and I want to book the hotel the convention is at, and I know you can't do that without a valid booking. So can you let me know ASAP. Please ...."
Them - MORE SILENCE
Me - having whined to friends on the weekend - another email: "Um - could you PLEASE let me know whether you have finalized this, as I am traveling 12,000 miles to come to this event and I really would like to book this hotel! Smiley face.
SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE.
So here's my Q's: 1) Did anyone else have similar difficulties, and 2) If so what did you do about it and 3) Does anyone know the email address of an actual PERSON (rather than a general address) that I could ask to sort this out?
Eternally grateful to anyone who can help me here! You get tons of cookies etc when I get there, if I can 1) get in and 2) don't have to sleep on the streets :-)

Date: 2012-04-02 06:22 pm (UTC)Basically YES I had a very similar problem. They took 2 weeks to send out my confirmation, and that was after I hassled them.
First - The best contact address I've used is autoassembly@aol.com, the guy's name is Simon Plumbe. Unfortunately I don't have his personal address, but that's the one I've had responses from (my last question still went unanswered though).
Second - Check your spam folders. My confirmation wound up in there.
Last I checked (last week) the Hilton Metropole, where the con is being hosted, still has twin rooms at the reduced con rate, but all the doubles are booked up. You can use the minisite to book. If that's not for you, there are several other nearby hotels -
Please do let me know if I can do anything else to help - I'm in the UK and happy to help out.

Thanks again *hugs* - and look forward to meeting you and

That's what I thought - it's stressful enough organising stuff like this (for me it is, anyway) without being thousands of miles away from the area.
Happy to help *hugs* we're looking forward to meeting you too :P
