Speed ......

I went through another speed camera yesterday - damn damn damn - and I was in boring work car too and not even my fast one. The speed limits are very low here and even lower coming up to lights etc where they hide them in very obscure places- yeah, they move them around, you never know where they are until you see that sickening 'flash.'
Thing is, I'm all for speed cameras if they are in places - like school crossings etc - where speeding really is a hazard. But they put these things in spots where motorists are just likely to be not paying completely rapt attention to the (abruptly changing) speed limit signs, not really where driving - mostly only a little over the limit - is dangerous. It's a real revenue gathering trip :P
Never mind - weekend nearly here and it will be drivingless yay!

We have speed cameras at an exit of a village near where my parents live, and they look like the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. *rofl* ^^°

But here, only the ones at traffic lights are permanent. The rest are portable, and they put them somewhere different every day. And in places where motorists are very likely to be 'caught out,' often where going 10kph over the speed limit is not really dangerous.
Yet they are hardly ever on country roads - where most fatalities are.
That's why the ongoing criticism that this is about revenue not safety !
