I was really glad to see this piece, as I've been anxious to find out the backstory between these two since you first mentioned it. And I really enjoyed it. Especially the first five paragraphs of the second section. So much worldbuilding in so few words, and without it feeling like an info-dump. Very nicely done.

I also like the tone, and especially the third-to-last paragraph. Very sad, and very interesting. I'm intrigued to see how his experiences with Hook shaped the person he came to be on Earth.
